My name is Aaron, and I am on a student exchange to Botswana from the beginning of August to the end of November. I am from Canada and am studying computer science. I will be posting some of the things that I do here along with pictures, so be sure to keep an eye on this blog!
People here are always asking me here why I wanted to come to Botswana. I think a better question is why I wanted to come to Africa. When I first heard about the opportunity to do a student exchange, I thought it would be pretty cool, and my next thought was that I would definitely want to go somewhere kind of exotic. I wanted to see a culture and landscape that was totally different from my home. My parents have also spent some time in Africa, so I guess I feel like I have a bit of a connection here already. I think it’s exciting to go and see a place that is different and beautiful, and it has definitely been meeting my expectations so far.
I think I’m going to enjoy myself here in Botswana, and I hope to do some exciting things. I will miss my friends and family back home, which I think was the hardest thing about leaving, knowing that I will miss a semester of their lives. But I am looking forward to what Botswana will bring during my short stay here. Here's to adventure!

Have people called you MUZUNGU yet?
ReplyDeleteOr should I say: have MASS NUMBERS OF CHILDREN chased after you screaming at the top of their lungs "MUZUNGU! MUZUNGU!" or
"HOW AH-YOU MUZUNGU?"
Oh, I love you Africa.
ReplyDeleteno the children have not really been chasing us... but then again im mostly in the city so they're probably used to us a bit. this past weekend we were out in the country a bit and the kids were staring and waving a lot though :)
